Douglas Wright age 77, died May 12, 2026 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago where he had been a patient. Douglas grew up in the Elgin and Algonquin areas. He was a teacher with District # 300, and taught math specifically, for over 35 years at Jacobs High School, He coached basketball and sports. He loved relaxing and traveling in his spare moments, especially just being relaxed at home. His love for all sports aided in his talent for coaching and understanding. Most of all he cherished his special time with his grandson Mason, hanging out together was a highlight for both of them. Along with his teaching at Jacobs he was actively involved with the Teachers Union for District # 300, where he served and assisted in different operational capacities and advocacy. Family includes his loving wife Linda Wright. Cherished daughter Kelli ( Brett) Hager and adored grandson Mason. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, the Late Max and Lyonne Wright.
Memorial Service will be held at Defiore Funeral Home and Cremation Services Wednesday May 27, 2026 4-6 pm, with a prayer service at 5:30pm.
