My Dad, Tony Kmiecik, and Uncle Herb were besties in high school. My Mom and Aunt Donna became quick friends too, and our families celebrated so many holidays and good times throughout the years of my parents' marriage. As kids, we played together while our parents socialized. It was the best of times. Gradually we lost touch, but some of us managed to reconnect over the years, beginning with Aunt Donna's funeral, then my Dad's, and after that, my Mom's. Sadly, Uncle Herb has now left us too, but I pray they are all together again, catching up, and looking out for all of us. My condolences to his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandson. Uncle Herb was one of a kind. I treasure the memories we shared.
