Obituary

William "Bill" E. Palzkill, 90, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025.

He was born on February 28, 1935 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin to Ernest and Aurelia (Knapp) Palzkill. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1953. Following high school, Bill earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Marquette University. He also proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Reserves.

Bill married Marilyn Demuth in Mineral Point on June 6, 1957. He excelled in his work with the IRS, eventually working his way up from tax auditor to District Director. Throughout their life together, the couple moved all over the country, from Wisconsin to Washington D.C., Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, and Kentucky, eventually settling in Sun City Huntley in 2000.

After retiring, he and Marilyn traveled extensively across the US and overseas. Their favorite trips were river cruises in Europe. Bill enjoyed playing softball with his team in Del Webb. In his younger years, he even coached several sports teams for his sons. But his favorite pastime was home improvement. He loved to fix everything but was also creative in a wide range of remodeling, stained glass, and landscaping projects. Bill made sure to pass his skills and work ethic along to his children and grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be well and truly missed.

Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn; three children, Michael (Teresa) Palzkill, Karen (Keith) Flood, and Kevin (Tasha) Palzkill; four sisters-in-law, Mary Lynn Palzkill, Janice Carey, Coletta Demuth, and Connie Landry; his grandchildren, Matthew (Karly) Palzkill, Megan (Joel) Campnell, Haley Flood, and Jackson Palzkill; and his great-grandchildren, Lila, Charles, Holden, and one great-granddaughter to be born soon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Kay Palzkill; brothers, Tom and Deige Palzkill; brothers-in-law John Carey and Jim Landry, and sister-in-law, Beatrice Palzkill.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 9am until time of Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Mary Catholic Church - 10307 Dundee-Huntley Rd, Huntley, Illinois, 60142.
