James “Jim” A. Pfotenhauer, passed away on June 7, 2025 with his family by his side.
He was born on March 30, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert and Lillian (Dykstra) Pfotenhauer. He married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Smith, on March 2, 1963 in Decatur, Illinois. They settled in Huntley for the last 22 years after moving from Carol Stream, Illinois.
Jim worked as a Production Control Manager for Illinois Toolworks for over 20 years. He was an avid fan of all sports, whether watching or playing. But his favorite pastime over all of them was playing golf with his friends, even dedicating a special Tuesday morning breakfast club to his golf buddies. In addition to sports, Jim loved playing cards. He had a weekly Bridge game with friends, who will certainly miss his company. In his spare time, Jim could be found fishing and camping. Still greater than his passion for anything else in his life was the love he had for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife, Jeanne, Jim is survived by his four children, Mindy Bosso, Matthew Pfotenhauer, Christopher (Tia) Pfotenhauer, and Craig (Christy) Pfotenhauer; his siblings, Gene Pfotenhauer and Ruth McElwee; eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Ariel, Sal, Marisa, Michael, Angela, Alyssa, Andie, Keith, Kevin, and Eileen; and five great-grandchildren, Joey, Jeremiah, Novalee, Emilynn, and Niko.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
