Russell P. DeSalvo

Obituary

Russell "Russ" P. DeSalvo, 80, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 25, 1945, to parents Rosario and Nancy (Cotelle) DeSalvo.

Russell was a man who lived with passion, loyalty, and love. Russell had a heart as strong as the engines he rebuilt, especially his beloved Chevy and his most recent Mustang Convertible. He poured that same dedication into every part of his life, whether it was organizing Skip’s Car Show in Woodstock for fellow muscle car enthusiasts or simply going out with friends and family for a good breakfast. Russell was more than just a car guy, he was an amazing husband, a devoted father, a proud papa, and the rock of a loving family. His legacy isn’t just in the cars he restored—it’s in the memories, the love, and the warmth he gave to all who knew him. Russell DeSalvo lived full throttle, and we are all better for having known and loved him.

Russell is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Terry) Henning of Florida, his 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob, Sara, Terry and Madelyn; along with his niece and nephews.

Russell is proceeded in death with his beloved wife Antoinette DeSalvo, his daughter Nancy Albergo, his parents Rosario and Nancy (Cotelle) DeSalvo and his brother Paul DeSalvo.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00–12:00 p.m. followed by a service at 12 p.m. at De Fiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

I would like to share my warmest condolences for your loss and we wish you the warmest heart felt path to closure as you navigate these next few days. I missed the pleasure of meeting Russell in person, yet even outside looking in the love this family had for one another could be felt in the warm stories and comedic events they would share with us. Hugs for you and yours.
