Michael P. O’Reilly, Sr., 76, of Pingree Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025.
He was born on June 13, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, one of five sons to Myles and Carmella (Genuzzio) O’Reilly. He married his wife of over 50 years, Julia Ward, on May 29, 1971. The couple spent most of their marriage in Chicago, where Michael worked as a Union Carpenter for Lake Shore Exhibit before his retirement. They moved from Logan Square to Pingree Grove, Illinois, where they would live for the last six years.
Michael could often be found shooting the breeze with his friends and neighbors. He was an avid sports fan (especially of his beloved Cubs and Bears) and enjoyed horse race betting at Arlington Racetrack in his younger years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Julia, Michael is survived by his sons, Brian (Kelly) O’Reilly and Michael P. O’Reilly, Jr.; his granddaughters, Hayley O’Reilly and Allyson O’Reilly; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
