Rosemary Alice Dobbins Nash

Obituary

Rosemary Alice Dobbins Nash, 72, of Huntley, IL passed away peacefully at home on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025 surrounded by family. Rosemary was born January 10, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA; daughter of Jack and Gertrude Dobbins.
Rosemary attended Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Rolling Meadows, IL and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education at Barry University in Miami, FL. She worked at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines for several years as a Phlebotomist and Lab Tech before becoming a stay-at-home Mom to spend more time with the kids.
On June 29, 1974, Rosemary met her future husband Dave when they were paired up at a mutual friend’s wedding. Rosemary asked her friend Annie to invite Dave over to her house the day after the wedding so they could meet again. Rosemary and Dave’s get together included picking daisies in a local field near-by, one of Rosemary’s favorite flowers. From that time, their friendship and love grew. Rosemary was living in Florida at the time with her parents and previously lived in IL. Dave proposed marriage to Rosemary upon a visit to Florida on December 23, 1976. At the time, Rosemary’s mother asked her “what took him so long”? Rosemary moved back to Illinois shortly thereafter. Rosemary and Dave’s wedding plans came together when they were married on June 11, 1977 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic (OLPH) Church located in Glenview, IL.
Rosemary loved to visit Disney World and everything Disney. Her crafts room was full of Disney type crafts and many Disney character pictures. Rosemary was very talented. She was always sewing, quilting, and crafting anything from clothes to specialty picture quilts to bedding blankets including personalized baby baptismal blankets and altar cloths for Church. If you needed something sewed or quilted, Rosemary was the go-to lady!
Rosemary’s smile will always be remembered. She had the biggest heart full of love and kindness for her family and friends. Rosemary loved animals, especially dogs. She and Dave always had a dog to nurture and love since the day they met. Rosemary also loved the snow during the winter time but not the cold weather!
Rosemary loved to take falls trips to Galena, IL with the family. She also enjoyed going on a few cruise vacation trips with family. Rosemary loved just being at home crafting, reading a good book, playing with her dog, seeing the kids and grand-kids, watching local softball games over the summer (watching Dave play) and going out for meals with family or friends. Rosemary volunteered her time with Altar Care and Office support ministries at Church in addition to assisting with food pantry drives for the needy.
Rosemary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Dave, her daughter Colleen (Alex), her son Kevin and grandchildren Jordyn, Christian, Kyle, Jonathan, Alexandra, Alex and Leah. Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jackie and Barbara.
A Church Service will be held on April 22, 2025; 6:00pm at Light of Christ Church located at 1700 Longmeadow Parkway, Algonquin, IL. A celebration of Rosemary’s life will take place in the very near future. In lieu of flowers, please provide a memorial donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Priests of the Sacred Heart or a local animal shelter.
